Alan Thomas, Jr., the former commissioner of the Federal Acquisition Service at the General Services Administration, has joined Trowbridge as executive vice president of special projects.

Thomas has more than 25 years of experience in the public and private sector growing and managing profitable technology and services organizations. As commissioner of FAS, he oversaw more than 3,500 employees and the delivery of $60 billion of products, services and solutions in the federal government.

Thomas started his career as a presidential management fellow in the Department of the Army in 1994, supporting the deputy chief of staff for logistics. He later went to serve as a defense acquisition management analyst in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, and held positions at Booz Allen Hamilton and Compusearch Software Systems.

Thomas returned to government in 2009 as a program manager for the Defense Department, and went on to hold leadership and executive positions at Data Networks Corp. and Berico Technologies before joining GSA.

Cass Panciocco, CEO of Trowbridge, said the company is excited for Thomas to join the team.

“His demonstrated history of improving companies in the information technology services industry will be invaluable as we continue on our growth trajectory,” Panciocco said. “The team at Trowbridge, our customers, and the strategic efforts across the enterprise will undoubtedly benefit from his insight and leadership.”

And as he enters his new role in Trowbridge’s leadership team, Thomas is also joining Enlightenment Capital‘s advisory board, of which Trowbridge is a portfolio company under.

“We are thrilled to partner with Alan as we continue to grow Trowbridge into a leading provider of IT modernization services,” said Jason Rigoli, Trowbridge chairman and partner of Enlightenment Capital.
