General Dynamics Information Technology has won a deal to provide priority telecommunications services to the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s Emergency Communications Division.

The single-award contract was awarded to CSRA LLC, a managed affiliate of GDIT. It has a potential value of $325 million and includes a base period of one year with four 1-year options.

The PTS program provides priority voice, data, video and information services in natural and manmade disaster situations where communication networks become congested from increased traffic or physical damage. The services aid to maintain continuity of government operations during emergencies such as acts of terrorism or war.

PTS’ next phases includes the adoption of the fifth-generation cellular network technology that will be continuously supported by GDIT.

GDIT will have influence over a variety of internal telecommunication and system engineering experts and the expansion of priority services capabilities that enables the program’s reach of near-ubiquitous data connectivity and expansion of data use, video and information services.

“We are honored to continue our journey supporting DHS’ next-generation telecommunications,” said Vice President Brian Michl, general manager of GDIT’s DHS Sector. “By leveraging GDIT’s telecommunication experts and our extensive community of partners, DHS can utilize the latest capabilities and realize enhanced, real-time emergency communications across the federal government.”

GDIT has supported the PTS program over the last 25 years and its combined services assists a wide range of registered users including the White House, the emergency preparedness community and 16 critical infrastructure sectors.
