Dovel Technologies President and Chief Operating Officer Damon Griggs will become the company’s chief executive Nov. 1, as current CEO Paul Leslie transitions to executive chairman of the board.

Griggs joined the company in 2016 as COO and became president in 2018. Dovel said since his arrival, the company has more than doubled in size. In September, Dovel acquired Ace Info Solutions in an effort to further the company’s position into the mid-tier government contracting market.

Griggs has been key in developing Dovel’s corporate strategy, expanding capabilities, enhancing relationships with current and prospective customers, and providing opportunities for employee growth, the company said.

The Dovel team takes “enormous pride” in providing innovative solutions that enable its customers to meet their mission, Griggs said.

“With our ongoing development and expansion of competencies and capabilities, as well as access to a wide-range of contract vehicles, Dovel will continue to provide cutting-edge solutions and expand our reach to broaden our impact across the federal government,” he added.

Leslie came to Dovel as CEO in 2011. He has since led the company from a small business with fewer than 50 employees into a player in the federal space with over 2,200 staff today.

Succession planning has been a key aspect of Dovel’s  strategy as the company looked to the future, Leslie said.

“I have tremendous confidence in Damon and the executive team and look forward to this next chapter in Dovel’s evolution as we continue to expand our capabilities to help our customers create the government of the future,” he added.

Griggs was one of WashingtonExec’s 2019 Top 10 Operating Executives to Watch and Leslie was among WashingtonExec’s inaugural Top 30 Execs to Watch.
