CACI International Inc has hired retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael H. Shields as senior vice president of advanced technology for mission adoption.

In his new role, Shields will focus on strategic planning to integrate advanced technologies in areas including novel sensors, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, and others with warfighting needs. He will also guide the development of mission-ready solutions.

Shields has over 30 years of military leadership experience, most recently as director of the Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Organization within the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. In that role, Shields led a team of experts in countering threat networks and the adversarial use of disruptive technology, among other responsibilities.

Shields’ military career includes serving as commanding general of the U.S. Army Alaska; director of the Pakistan/Afghanistan Coordination Center, Joint Staff; the JIEDDO deputy director for operations and intelligence; and director of the National Joint Operations and Intelligence Center, Joint Staff.

“I am extremely impressed by CACI’s commitment to developing and deploying advanced technologies for the warfighter,” Shields said. “CACI’s rich history of DoD support gives us an unmatched understanding of defense and national security missions, and the company’s growing technical capabilities position us to continually expand our support for the nation’s most critical missions.”
