James Clapper, the former director of national intelligence and an intelligence community veteran, has joined cybersecurity and intelligence-analysis firm StellarPeak Corp. as a senior adviser, the company announced.

In the new role, Clapper is expected to enhance corporate strategic planning, business development and market intelligence to drive StellarPeak’s growth, particularly within the intelligence community, the company said.

“Jim brings world-class experience to our team and will have an immediate and profound impact on StellarPeak’s success,” said Nuhad Karaki, president and CEO of StellarPeak. “Jim shares our vision and brings innovative and strategic thinking to how we’ll meet current and future needs of our customers. Our key leadership team is particularly excited to work with Jim to achieve our goals.”

Clapper, a retired lieutenant general in the U.S. Air Force, served as the fourth head of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence under President Barack Obama. He also served as undersecretary of defense for intelligence under two administrations.

“Having worked with Nuhad Karaki on far-reaching Intelligence Community projects, I know his personal commitment to delivering superior support to our government agencies,” Clapper said. “Nuhad has built a strong team of professionals and I’m proud to aide in capitalizing on successes and enhancing what makes the StellarPeak team unique.”
