Melissa Chapman, former chief information officer at the Health and Human Services Department, has been named president of 9th Way Solutions, an emerging service-disabled, veteran-owned small business.

As president, Chapman will provide strategic leadership across the company’s services, including health IT, enterprise services, cyber and information security, systems and program management and data analytics.

“We are ecstatic about Melissa joining our team,” said Steve Ikirt, 9th Way CEO. “She has been a foundational leader in the health IT space for years. Her reputation is extraordinary and her experience in providing real solutions to customer problems truly sets her apart.”

Chapman is also looking forward to leading 9th Way.

“I’m excited to join Steve and execute his vision for working with customers to solve their toughest problems,” she said. “My goal is to expand 9th Way’s reach as a prime SDVOSB and enhance our partnering across the Federal customer space.”

Chapman brings with her vast experience in the health IT space.

As HHS CIO, Chapman established the National Federal Health Architecture, a 26-agency partnership that resulted in shared, unified enterprise architectures across all health mission processes and technical reference models.

In the private sector, Chapman was vice president of business development at Salient CRGT. She previously worked as vice president at General Dynamics Information Technology, where she developed and implemented a 3-year strategy for establishing and integrating the company’s health IT organization.

Chapman was named one of the “Top 10 Health Care Leaders To Watch” by WashingtonExec this past summer.
