NewSpring Holdings LLC has wrapped its acquisition of The Sentinel Co., creating a new entity focused on government services.
Since 2006, Sentinel has provided consulting and technology-enabled solutions to agencies and industry partners in border security, national security, Defense Department and federal health. The company is headquartered in Tysons Corner.
The acquisition is NewSpring’s fourth one in just over four years.
The new entity will be spearheaded by CEO Andy Maner, a federal IT executive who specializes in M&A, corporate leadership and organization design. His background includes senior roles at the White House and serving as chief financial officer at the Homeland Security Department and as chief of staff at U.S. Customs and Border Protection. His private sector experience includes over five years at IBM Federal.
“Private equity continues to be a dominant story in the government services sector in 2018,” said Bob Kipps, managing director of KippsDeSanto & Co, who keeps a close eye on M&A activity. “This transaction combines a sophisticated investor with deep next-generation technology roots and one of the most proven executives in the GovCon space. We would not be surprised to see this become a platform for numerous higher-end acquisitions in the coming years.”
