Julie Coons has been announced Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce‘s next president and CEO, effective Sept. 10.

Coons currently is chief operating officer of the Council of Better Business Bureaus in Arlington, Virginia. Her most recent leadership roles include president and CEO of the Electronic Retailing Association and president and CEO of the Maryland Tech Council.

Coons was selected after a national search facilitated by The McCormick Group, a national executive search consulting firm, and led by the chamber’s Search Committee. Jennifer Siciliano, chief communications and external affairs officer at Inova and chair of the Northern Virginia Chamber board of directors, said Coons’ background “makes her uniquely positioned to represent the Chamber membership and the regional business community to realize this success.”

“We are pleased to welcome Julie and are confident that her leadership, proven track record, and vision for the Northern Virginia business community will complement the Chamber’s exceptional membership, Board of Directors, and staff,” Siciliano added.
