    Speakers, Agenda Announced for May 15 CXO Tech Forum on Health IT

    A week from today, GovernmentCIO Media is hosting a breakfast event with health IT leaders from the federal government and industry discussing how game-changing technology is helping transform care.

    Held at the Dockmaster Building on D.C. Southwest Waterfront, the May 15 CXO Tech Forum: Health IT kicks off 8 a.m. with breakfast and registration, followed by two fireside chats with Jose Arrieta, associate deputy assistant secretary for acquisition at the Health and Human Services Department, and Steven Posnack, director of the Office of Standards and Technology at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.

    Those conversations will be followed by panel discussions and end with lunch at 12:40 p.m. Below is the rest of the agenda:

    ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE PANEL:

    • Jeff Shilling, chief information officer, National Cancer Institute
    • Chuck Howell, chief scientist for dependable AI, MITRE Corp.
    • Jean Vettel, senior science lead, Future Soldier Technologies Division, Army Research Laboratory’s Human Sciences campaign
    • Moderator: Amanda Ziadeh, reporter, GovernmentCIO Media

    This panel will explore how AI is playing a crucial role in transforming health care, both inside and outside the clinical setting.

    CYBERSECURITY PANEL 

    • Jean Yang, associate professor, Carnegie Mellon University
    • Shannon Sartin, executive director, USDS, Health and Human Services
    • Moderator: Camille Tuutti, editor-in-chief, GovernmentCIO Media

    Health care is seen as one of the most vulnerable and dangerous cybersecurity targets. Panelists will discuss best practices, use cases and what’s on the horizon for next-generation health IT.

    FIRESIDE CHAT WITH DR. PAUL TIBBITS

    Dr. Paul Tibbits, a deputy CIO and program executive officer for the Financial Management Business Transformation at VA, will discuss efforts by VA to acquire the best health care technologies to improve care for veterans. Moderated by Michael Hoffman, president, GovernmentCIO Media.

    DATA WAVE AND PRECISION MEDICINE PANEL: 

    • Col. John Scott, data manager, Defense Health Agency
    • Tony Jones, CEO of Frontive, creator of the Smart Personal Health Assistant
    • Aaron Black, chief data officer, Inova Translational Medicine Institute
    • Moderator: Amanda Ziadeh, reporter, GovernmentCIO Media

    A wave of health care data has swept over the government and industry. This panel will discuss the technologies and strategies government agencies and commercial firms are using to capitalize on the mountains of health care data being collected.

    FIRESIDE CHAT WITH STACY CUMMINGS

    Stacy Cummings is the program executive officer for Defense Healthcare Management Systems and oversees the Defense Department electronic health record modernization. Moderator: Amanda Ziadeh, reporter, GovernmentCIO Media.

    IT INFRASTRUCTURE INNOVATION PANEL: 

    • Drew Myklegard, Lighthouse product owner, VA
    • Amy Haseltine, executive director, Office of IT Strategy, Policy and Governance, HHS
    • Moderator: Michael Hoffman, president, GovernmentCIO Media

    Software development in government has changed. Agencies risk falling behind unless they modernize their IT infrastructure utilizing methods such as open sourcing and acquiring commercial-off-the-shelf tools. The panelists will discuss the new opportunities sweeping through government.

    The event is free for government employees and $275 for industry.
