Senior leaders are invited to a two-day seminar at Georgetown University, where they’ll hear from key experts on addressing insider threats.

The “Leadership and Insider Threat: Creating a Culture of Security” event will be held June 18-19 and taught by faculty in Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business and Walsh School of Foreign Service Center for Security Studies.

The interactive seminar allows participants to explore both academic and practical approaches to dealing with insider threats, learn about performing an organizational “pre-mortem,” discuss how organizational culture can help limit insider threats, and look at tools and models to anticipate vulnerabilities and address them through management and technical solutions.

One of the key instructors, Dr. Jeffrey Connor, has written several internal case studies and helped design and deliver executive education. Formerly a CEO of a large professional service organization and also previously a lecturer at Harvard Medical School, he has delivered programs on leadership in more than 25 countries. He is an adjunct professor in the Security Studies Program at Georgetown.

Another key instructor, Carol Rollie Flynn, is managing principal at Singa Consulting, which provides cybersecurity and leadership training, among other services. A 30-year veteran of the CIA, she has held numerous leadership positions including director of the CIA’s Leadership Academy.

Flynn is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown’s School of the Foreign Service/Security Studies Program and the McCourt School of Public Policy, adjunct staff at Rand Corp., and a senior affiliate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Additionally, she’s a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Tuition for the seminar covers eight sessions, course materials, lunch and other refreshments, parking and a course completion certificate.
