Academy Securities has added retired Lt. Gen. Rhett Hernandez, a 39-year Army veteran and the first commander of Army Cyber Command, to its advisory board.
Hernandez currently serves as president of CyberLens, LLC and as the West Point cyber chair to the Army Cyber Institute. Academy Securities Chairman and CEO Chance Mims said the company was honored to add such a highly esteemed cyber expert to its board.
“Lieutenant General Rhett Hernandez brings a wealth of experience that will help our partners and clients in a field whose relevance today cannot be overstated,” Mims said.
Hernandez said he was looking forward to helping an organization that creates opportunities for veterans. Academy Securities is a disabled veteran-owned investment bank, and many of its leaders have had military experience before going into financial services.
“I’m excited and humbled about the opportunity to join this team of trusted professionals committed to providing an unmatched perspective on global markets, so critical to today’s complex and ever-changing geopolitical environment,” Hernandez said. “However, what excites me the most as a veteran is our social mission to increase veterans’ opportunities.”
Before his role as commander of Army Cyber Command, Hernandez served as deputy chief of staff for Army operations; chief of the United States Military Training Mission in Saudi Arabia; and commanding general for Human Resources Command. He was an assistant professor for probability and statistics at the U.S. Military Academy and has published articles on leadership and cyber topics.
