Leidos has hired Lt. Gen. William J. Bender as a strategic account executive responsible for strengthening relationships with government customers and fostering organic growth.
Bender most recently served as chief information officer for U.S. Air Force, and has 34 years of military experience and executive-level leadership in information technology and government services.
“William is an accomplished and highly respected military leader with extensive expertise in information technology, cybersecurity, and government services,” said Gerry Fasano, Leidos executive vice president and chief of business development and strategy. “His deep knowledge of strategic customers will allow us to grow our enduring relationships and improve our ability to understand and serve their core missions.”
As Air Force CIO, Bender oversaw 50,000 cyber operations and support personnel, along with an IT investment strategy and a portfolio valued at $17 billion. Before that, he served as the second-highest ranking military officer at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq, overseeing foreign military sales and security cooperation between the U.S. and the government of Iraq.
