Dave Wallen, senior vice president of cyber operations and exploitation solutions at ManTech International, has been named vice chair of the WashingtonExec Intelligence Council for 2017-2018.

Wallen was instrumental in founding the Intelligence Council in 2012 and is a key facilitator of the group’s security-cleared programming. Wallen has also worked with WashingtonExec through the Rising Stars and College Leadership Programs.

Wallen, along with Chairman Brett Dody of Vencore, is taking the reins at a pivotal time within the intelligence community and plans to bring new topics and out-of-the-box speakers to the 5-year council of 30 executives. The group plans to host programs on the insider threat, digital tools, acquisition reform, modernizing data sharing and meaningful public-private partnership.

“I look forward to bridging the public-private partnership for the defense and intelligence communities through meaningful dialogue,” Wallen said. “Forums such as the WashingtonExec Intelligence Council are necessary for the IC to continue to modernize its digital intelligence and defensive cyber capabilities.”

Wallen has worked at ManTech for more than five years and previously led BAE Systems’ intelligence and economic security practices. Earlier this year, ManTech Chairman and CEO George Peterson was presented with the Central Intelligence Agency Officers Memorial Foundation’s Patriots Award.

Wallen received an M.B.A. in management from Golden Gate University, and a B.B.A. in management information systems from James Madison University. He also received executive leadership training at Wharton and Oxford, and is certified through the Project Management Institute and ITIL Foundation.
