Marketo, Inc., a leading provider of engagement marketing software and solutions, announced yesterday it appointed Reggie Aggarwal, founder and chief executive officer of Cvent, to its board of directors. “With Marketo’s goal of becoming a billion-dollar software company, we are investing heavily in our leadership, especially in areas like finance, to support our next phase of growth,” said Steve Lucas, the company’s CEO.

“I am excited to welcome Reggie to Marketo’s board,” said Lucas. “Reggie has had an incredible journey creating a successful, high-growth SaaS company that enables corporate marketers to drive real business impact through events. Cvent, like Marketo, is on a trajectory of innovation and expansion, and adding Reggie to our board brings new dimension as we drive success in the Engagement Economy.”

Aggarwal has nearly 20 years of technology leadership and entrepreneurial experience, having built Cvent from a two-person startup to a more than 2,500-person global software company. Now the world’s largest event management technology provider, Cvent has more than 200,000 users.

“Marketo is the clear leader in marketing and engagement,” said Aggarwal. “They have built an incredibly dynamic and progressive platform that is giving unbelievable insights to marketers to help their customers achieve better return on investment. I have been following Marketo’s success and innovations for nearly a dozen years, and it is a privilege to sit on their board.”

Aggarwal was named CEO of the Year and the Most Admired CEO in Washington, D.C., by the Washington Business Journal, and has received technology and leadership distinctions from Ernst & Young, Forbes, and Washingtonian Magazine. He holds a B.S. degree from the University of Virginia, a J.D. from Washington and Lee University Law School, and an LL.M. (post-law degree) from Georgetown University Law School. He has also received an Honorary Doctorate from Southeastern University for his contribution to the community.

In addition to Aggarwal, Marketo announced Mark Miller is joining the company as its new chief financial officer. Miller brings with him more than 20 years of experience as a finance leader at technology companies, most recently as CFO of ACTIVE Network. Prior to ACTIVE, Miller held the position of executive vice president and CFO of LHP Hospital Group, Inc., and EVP and CFO of Sabre Holdings. During his 10 years with Sabre, he also served as the company’s controller. Miller was previously CFO and vice president of finance at GetThere, which is part of Sabre Travel Network. Over the course of his career, he has led multiple business transformation initiatives, completed more than 20 mergers and acquisitions, and consistently driven operational and financial excellence.

At Marketo, Miller will manage the company’s global financial operations, human resources, accounting, and tax functions, reporting into Lucas. He holds a master of business administration from Rice University and began his career as an auditor at Ernst & Young.

“I am thrilled to welcome Mark to the organization and want to thank [outgoing CFO]Brian [Kinion] for all of his exceptional contributions to Marketo since joining Marketo in 2013,” said Lucas. “Brian has been instrumental in leading the company through a seamless transition from public to private under our new Vista leadership, and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
