The second International Cyber Security Conference concluded in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia yesterday. Approximately 1,000 participants, from students to CEOs, were in attendance.

“Cyber security is a shared responsibility so we look forward to everyone’s cooperation to protect national security and the pledge and commitment to apply basic standards, share data and strive to develop national capacities,” said Prince Bandar bin Abdullah Al-Mishari Al-Saud. He is the assistant minister of interior for technology affairs in Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior, which organized the event.

Among the presenters was Jeff Snyder, vice president of cyber programs at Raytheon and WashingtonExec’s cyber council co-chair. He spoke about the importance of fortifying internal systems to complicate state-sponsored cyberattacks.

“The cybersecurity domain has become a global imperative and one that requires important partnerships across many international boundaries to help keep us safe from the growing cyber threat,” said Snyder. “Raytheon is very proud of our relationship with the kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and we are pleased with Saudi Arabia’s significant focus on cybersecurity, and we look forward to a partnership with KSA that will help us all be more secure from these threats.”

The conference covered a wide variety of topics, including supply chain security, securing the internet of things, managing cybersecurity risk, and global cybersecurity trends.
