Chantilly, Va.-based AMERICAN SYSTEMS announced on January 13th that it had been appraised at Maturity Level 3 of the CMMI Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development (CMMI Dev 1.3) by a CMMI Institute Partner. AMERICAN SYSTEMS was appraised in the areas of organizational process management, project and work management, engineering and support.

The Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) is a capability improvement model that can be adapted to solve any performance issue at any level of an organization in any industry. Many of the Department of Defense and the U.S. Government contracts, especially in the area of software development demand a positive CMMI appraisal.

Peter Smith, President and CEO of AMERICAN SYSTEMS stated, “Continuous improvement is embedded in our Service Delivery Framework, and achieving an appraisal at CMMI Maturity Level 3 validates our Quality Management philosophy. It’s a testament to our commitment to our customers and their national priority missions. It also speaks to the quality of our people and processes, ensuring repeatable and predictable outcomes.”
