Reston, Va.-based Leidos announced Oct. 22 that the company has been awarded a prime contract by the U.S. Navy to provide operational medicine research modeling support services to the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC).

“Supporting the Naval Health Research Center with its analysis of medical and scientific data will help ensure the mission readiness of our military personnel, and we are proud to continue this important work,” Leidos Health Deputy Group President Jerry Hogge said.

Leidos will continue to provide support services for research modeling in support of operational medicine under the follow-on contract. The research is heavily data-driven and depends upon the collection, characterization, analysis and reporting of data from multiple sources, such as the Expeditionary Medical Encounter database (EMED) and Military Health System (MHS), the Dept. of Veterans Affairs and other operational data.

The single-award cost-plus fixed-fee contract has a one-year base period of performance and four one-year options, with a total contract value of approximately $26 million, if all options are exercised. Work will be performed in San Diego, California.

NHRC performs medical modeling and simulation research for the Dept. of Defense, homeland defense, humanitarian assistance, peace-keeping and disaster relief activities.
