LGS Innovations (LGS), based in Herndon, Va., announced Nov. 18 that the U.S. Navy has awarded the company a contract to supply submarine telecommunication cables to its Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (NAVFAC EXWC). The Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract has a ceiling value of $9.5 million.

“Maritime networking and communications is one of our core solution areas,” LGS Innovations CEO Kevin Kelly said. “We are proud to have established ourselves as a long-standing solution provider for the Navy. We look forward to providing continued high-quality solutions to yet another command within the United States Navy.”

LGS Innovations has subcontracted Alcatel-Lucent Submarine Networks (ASN) to design, manufacture, and supply approximately 650 miles of subsea cable, with an expected operational lifetime of at least 20 years. Work is expected to be completed by July 2016.

NAVFAC EXWC delivers specialized engineering and technology solutions that support sustainable facilities and provides logistics and expeditionary systems support for Navy combat force capabilities.
