It was announced on September 8th by Herndon, Va.-based LGS Innovations LLC that it was won a fifteen month, $1.9 million contract to develop new technology to restore network connectivity in contested environments.
This contract is under DARPA’s Tactical Undersea Network Architectures (TUNA) program. LGS will be working alongside Linden Photonics and Tethers Unlimited to build specialized cable for undersea fiber optic based network. Model simulations, design and analysis will be implemented by LGS.
Kevin Kelly, CEO of LGS Innovations LLC, said, “The goal of the program is to ensure that our armed forces retain an information advantage even in contested environments where potential adversaries may attempt to disrupt other communication channels. LGS’ advanced R&D capabilities will be leveraged to support our national defense through extreme cutting edge network technology and science.”
