The University of Maryland University College (UMUC) will host its 3rd Annual Cyber Gala from 6:30 – 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center located in National Harbor, Maryland. This event recognizes the cyber talent of today and the next generation of cybersecurity leaders.
The Pioneer Award in Cybersecurity will be presented to John J. Hamre, President and CEO at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. The Leadership Award in Cybersecurity will be given to Steven D. Shirley who is the Executive Director at the Defense Cyber Crime Center. This event will also recognize the cyber security leaders of today and tomorrow by honoring UMUC students past, present and future who have made notable contributions to the field of cyber security.
The keynote speaker for the evening will be James R. Clapper, Director of National Intelligence for the U.S. Intelligence Community. He serves as the principal intelligence advisor to President Obama and is also the former Defense Intelligence Agency Director.
