McLean, Va.-based Day1 Solutions announced May 11 that the company has acquired Herndon, Va.-based OpenOsmium, its third acquisition in eight months.

OpenOsmium CEO Sadayappan “Chida” Chidambaram and his team will join the Solutions and Engineering team at Day1 Solutions, with Chidambaram appointed Chief Technology Officer for Big Data and Analytics.

“The expertise in big data analytics gained through this acquisition is substantial, strengthens our market position and advances the depth and breadth of our cloud-based solutions portfolio for public sector and commercial enterprises,” Day1 Solutions Founder and CEO Luis Benavides said. “Chida’s recognized thought leadership in our industry and big data experience are pivotal to our growth objectives, and will better enable our customers to meet their business goals. We are pleased to welcome Chida and his team to Day1 Solutions.”

“Big data solutions don’t always require a big wallet when existing applications and infrastructure investments are effectively leveraged as part of the overall solution,” Chidambaram said. “Day1 Solutions shares the philosophy of starting with the customer first, and provides a broader platform for growing the big data practice with additional customers, contract vehicles and industry-leading partnerships. I look forward to working with our customers, Luis and the entire Day1 Solutions team to drive innovation and success.”

Chidambaram brings more than 20 years of experience to the position. His primary responsibility will be in research and development and bringing new solutions to market.
