Below you will find key executive transition announcements, top merger and acquisition news, and the best stories covered in our daily news blog and weekly e-magazine from the second half of 2014.

Our top stories from the second half of 2014 include the passing of SAIC founder Dr. J. Robert Beyster; Publicis’ purchase of Sapient for $3.7 billion in an all-cash transaction; Engility’s acquisition of TASC in a transaction worth around $1.1 billion; and NGA’s Ellen McCarthy discussion on why the success of the STEM pipeline is a national security priority.

We also conducted video interviews with Ed Swallow, of Pegasus Strategic Advisors, who discussed the importance of the STEM pipeline and the upcoming STEM Symposium; Mehul Sanghani, of Octo Consulting Group, spoke about entrepreneurship; and Phil Panzarella, CPS Professional Services, explained his involvement with the group Easter Seals.

The 2015 K-12 STEM Symposium, to be held on March 7, 2015, at the Nysmith School in Herndon, Va., is a free, exciting and all-day forum that equally engages children, parents and teachers, coupled with corporate, government, academia and non-profit executives alike from the STEM fields. Activities for the day will include hands-on experiments for children, government and industry exhibitors, student science fair projects and panel discussions with STEM stakeholders. Attendees will also be able to find information about government and industry STEM-related high school and college internships. Sign up by clicking here.

We are excited to announce the theme for the 2015 K-12 STEM Symposium, “The Parent Factor: How to Engage Your Kids in STEM.” Every parent or guardian can be a driving force in a child’s pursuit and curiosity of the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields. The positive influence of a parent on a child’s academic achievements is irreplaceable. Whether a child is interested in computer coding or chemistry, or has yet to show an interest in STEM, parents need actionable information to spark and motivate their children.

We are also proud to announce Leidos as Founding Sponsor for this event.

We also wanted to send a special thanks out to our readers, members, speakers and supporters for the impact that you have made not only in the local business community, but within the development of our organization. Our company continues to grow across the board with more than 250 members in 10 separate outcome-based and result-oriented networking Councils. In addition, our readership of executives of consequence continues to grow and expand each week.

Reflecting on our three years in business, we cannot wait to cover this dynamic industry in 2015.
