RSA, the Security Division of EMC, announced Oct. 28 the promotion of Amit Yoran from SVP of Products to President.

“We are excited to have Amit in this role,” Art Coviello, RSA Executive Chairman and EMC Executive Vice President, said. “His passion, deep industry expertise and experience running agile organizations will help enable RSA to enhance the development, delivery and customer experience of the Intelligence Driven Security platforms and services enterprises need to effectively defend themselves in an increasingly complex threat landscape.”

“In the face of dramatic technology change and rapidly evolving threats, today’s security market is in need of a radical transformation,” Yoran said. “RSA is in a unique position to lead this change. We have the vision, the products and services, and the talent to deliver the Intelligence Driven Security that helps enable enterprises to communicate, collaborate and innovate securely. I am excited to focus all of RSA’s resources on solving these challenges and ensuring our customers have the security and peace of mind they need and deserve.”

As president, Yoran will be responsible for delivering a unified customer experience across products, marketing, sales and services. RSA’s Executive Chairman Art Coviello will work with Yoran to continue driving RSA’s strategic direction.

Yoran has more than 20 years of cyber security expertise and is considered an industry authority on the evolution of the security landscape and how enterprises can successfully defend themselves against advanced threats.

Prior to RSA, Yoran founded and served as the CEO of NetWitness, which was acquired by RSA in 2011, and CEO of Riptech, which was acquired by Symantec in 2002, where he served as VP of Worldwide Managed Security Services.

Yoran previously served as the founding director of the U.S. Computer Emergency Response Team and as a founding member of the U.S. Dept. of Defense’s CERT program.
