National Security company MacAulay-Brown, Inc. (MacB) announced yesterday that its president and CEO, Sid Fuchs, has been named a Senior Fellow by the Stephenson Disaster Management Institute (SDMI). The mission of SDMI is to save the lives of people and animas by continuously improving disaster management through leadership in applied research and executive education. SDMI is an institute of the Louisiana State University (LSU).
“Sid has an outstanding reputation and will be an excellent addition to SDMI,” said Joseph Booth, Executive Director of SDMI. “We look forward to working closely with him to further our goal of increasing awareness of disaster management with top government officials and industry leaders throughout the country.”
SDMI partners with academic scholars to research problems associated with disasters and develops information products based upon that research. The institute’s work helps to align subject matter expertise with disaster management decision makers. By working with research affiliates and Senior Fellows, SDMI can collaborate on new projects and research proposals to improve the entire cycle of disaster events, from preparedness through disaster recovery.
As SDMI’s Senior Fellow, Fuchs will lend his expertise and counsel to the institute to enhance its work on disaster management issues. He will also work with the organization to increase collaboration between the public and private sectors. Fuchs will represent SDMI by speaking at events and publishing articles on behalf of the institute as well.
“It is an honor to be named a Senior Fellow of SDMI, an organization that has been critical in bringing together academia, government and industry to proactively prepare for the next disaster,” said Fuchs. “As a graduate of LSU, I’m also proud that my alma mater has invested its time and resources to such an important issue.”
