Serco, Inc. was recently awarded a $22.7 million re-compete contract, through which it will support the Navy Expeditionary Medical Support Command (NEMSCOM) and its Deployable Medical Systems. This five-year contract has a one-year base period as well as four one-year option periods. Specifically, Serco will provide deployable medical systems solutions that help medical personnel provide healthcare to warfighters and to fulfill humanitarian requirements around the world.
The original contract was awarded in 2009 and has included the shipping of an Expeditionary Medical Facility to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and the support of the Super Trident Arch operation in 2013, which is a global operation to preposition or deliver Expeditionary Medical Facilities to regions in support of the Combatant Commander’s Area of Responsibility.
Currently under the contract, Serco is assembling, preparing and refurbishing new and used Deployable Medical Systems (DEPMEDS), which are 10-bed to 150-bed deployable hospitals that are self-contained and state-of-the-art. Each hospital unit includes medical equipment such as Computerized Tomography (CT) scanners and X-ray machines, as well as IT capabilities to collaborate with medical specialists around the U.S.
“At Serco, we take pride in our mission of service delivery excellence and embody that with every customer we serve,” said Dan Allen, Serco Inc.’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to continuing to support NEMSCOM with its global responsibilities.”
