HumanTouch, LLC, the McLean-based Platform-as-a-Service provider has acquired CorasWorks Corp. in a move aimed to enhance its ability to operationalize new products and processes for how companies build and deploy solutions.

Reston-based CorasWorks offers management solutions built upon the Microsoft SharePoint platform and provides solutions and applications to more than 1,000 private and public sector organizations.

HumanTouch views CorasWorks as an integral piece of its PaaS strategy because it enables organizations to capitalize on their existing investments in SharePoint while adhering to security and infrastructure policies. This acquisition will allow customers to decrease time to market at a reduced cost, compared to traditional solution implementation. Additionally, the acquisition will support organizations as they work to reduce the complexity of IT while leveraging existing investments.

“The addition of CorasWorks into our environment provides a major leap forward in providing PaaS Solutions to our customers,” said Jim Benson, senior vice president, HumanTouch. “CorasWorks has a depth of products and solutions that significantly expands our ecosystem that allows for quick application development, ease of configuration and one-touch deployment. This is integral to our goal of being recognized as an integrated product and services company that produces ‘just-in-time’ solutions to reduce risk and accelerate business value.”

This acquisition comes at a time when the PaaS solution marketplace is expected to grow at a compound annual rate of 41 percent through 2016, according to Market Monitor. At the heart of this growth is a major shift in the building, deploying and improving of applications, all while increasing the speed of systems changes. For example, tasks that previously took months to complete now can get done in mere weeks, days and even hours.

CorasWorks will benefit from the acceleration of its cloud-based strategy, as a result of this acquisition.

“By joining forces with HumanTouch, we will accelerate our vision of bringing our Visual Design Canvas for rapid configuration based applications to the Microsoft Office 365 and Azure Cloud,” said Dan Naselius, CTO of CorasWorks. Customers will not only benefit from moving their existing applications to Office 365 but also from a rich storefront of business solutions that we will be rolling out as well.”
