Fairfax-based DataRPM this week announced that it has hired Sean Mulvihill as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Mulvihill has 20 years of expertise in Silicon Valley to DataRPM, which provides a platform for instant big data discovery.

Mulvihill joins the company during a time of major growth; subscription revenues were 29 times greater in Q2 2014 compared to the same period in 2013.

“Sean’s deep experience in enterprise software sales management and passion for leading early stage ventures make him the ideal person to take our go-to-market strategy to the next level,” said Sundeep Sanghavi, co-founder and CEO of DataRPM. “The scope of our ambitions and our anticipated future growth in the enterprise market demand an executive of Sean’s caliber, and we’re delighted that he’s joined us.”

Before joining DataRPM, Mulvihill was VP of Sales and Marketing Operations at Monitise, a company that provides a mobile banking and payments platform for seven of the top 10 U.S. banks and more than 350 financial institutions worldwide. Prior to Monitise, he led inside sales at AppStream (acquired by Symantec). Mulivhill also founded a small business intelligence firm in Silicon Valley, called American Hopper.

“DataRPM helps businesses and organizations gain instant insights into their big data,” said Mulvihill. “With our patent-pending Computational Search Graph technology, we have cracked the code on big data discovery.”

Mulvihill explained what he believes differientiates DataRPM’s platform from others on the market.

“Moreover, DataRPM’s user experience really sets us apart. Our Natural Language Search Interface is a game-changer. You don’t need to write queries. You simply ask your data a question and get instant, visual results. This brings big data to the masses. And that’s a big enough deal for me to want to be here.”
