CALIBRE Systems employees, friends and patrons last month raised $60,000 to benefit Homes for Our Troops (HFOT) — an increase from the $32,000 in funds raised last year — during this year’s 25th annual CALIBRE Golf Tournament.

Held at the Hidden Creek Country Club green in Reston, Va., participants contributed $100 per ticket to benefit the non-profit founded in 2004 to benefit wounded veterans.

HFOT raises money, and builds adapted homes for servicemembers who have returned home post 9/11 with life-altering injuries.

The contributions from this year’s tournament specifically benefited local veteran Sgt. Michael Frazier, a U.S. Marine from Arlington, Va, who lost both of his legs and sustained arm injuries after stepping on an improvised explosive device (IED) while deployed in Afghanistan.

Frazier said he hopes the aid from HFOT will help him thrive in a specially adapted home that allows him to serve as an active stay-at-home husband to his wife, Monica.

“This isn’t just a house,” says Sgt Frazier, “This will be a home where we can raise our children and I can be a parent with no limits.”
