    WashingtonExec Summer Reading List Series:
It might not yet “officially” be summer, but with rising temperatures beckoning the start of patio cookout season, WashingtonExec asked area executives which books they planned to peruse this summer.

Greg Baroni is the chairman and chief executive at Attain, LLC. as well as chairman of the WashingtonExec Leadership Council. He recommended books for summer 2014 that engaged with topics ranging from overcoming barriers to creativity, encouraging the government to follow the “innovative” forged by the private sector and the art of overcoming obstacles. His top-picks were:

    1.   Creativity, Inc.: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration by Ed Catmull and Amy Wallace

    2.   Innovative State: How New Technologies Can Transform Government by Aneesh Chopra

    3.   David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell

Baroni last October was the executive to introduce U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia as keynote speaker for the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) Titans Series breakfast. Read about that and Baroni’s 2013 summer reading list here and here.
