Dave Vano, a retired Navy Reservist with 20 years of service under his belt, is set to transition through Micro Focus from his role as  Vice President of Worldwide Inside Sales and Demand Generation to become the Senior Vice President of the Federal Business Unit, the company announced last week.

He will be tasked in his new post with overseeing the company’s federal business operations and solutions development within the federal market. The new Federal Business SVP introduced himself in a blog post published last week to explain his background and visions.

“My life and work experiences have given me a perspective on problem-solving that few others have. I understand how the right technology, used correctly can resolve most problems,” Vano wrote in the blog post. “I also know good solutions when I see them and this role puts me in touch with plenty.”

Micro Focus is an enterprise application modernization, testing and management solutions company headquartered in Rockville, Md.

The company prides itself on being able to help clients modernize their mission-critical applications with reduced costs and risks, said David Taylor, the president of Micro Focus North America

“We have become the industry leader in application modernization, helping agencies unlock the value that already exists in their core business applications by deploying mission-critical COBOL applications to Windows, Linux or the Cloud, or delivering mainframe services to mobile platforms,” Taylor said. “Dave brings the perfect combination of deep government experience, extensive Micro Focus knowledge and proven leadership to deliver these lower cost, lower risk benefits to our federal customers.”

Prior to his role at Micro Focus Vano held executive positions in sales and technical with BMC Software and Attachmate Corporation.
