AT&T Government Solutions (AGS) has been awarded a $12 million contract by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to provide managed wide area network (WAN) services, according to a statement released by the company. AGS is a division of AT&T Inc. and the unit within AT&T which serves a wide range of federal agencies.

The WAN services AGS will provide include multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) for virtual private networks (VPNs) and voice services to 95 FDIC office locations nationwide.

“Focusing closely on customer requirements, AT&T Government Solutions extended a complete suite of products and services to meet all of FDIC’s immediate needs and those that may emerge, including data network, long distance, Internet, wireless backup and managed router service,” AGS President Kay Kapoor said. “We look forward to working closely with FDIC’s Division of Information Technology to help FDIC realize the service delivery, productivity, security and cost savings they seek.”

The FDIC preserves and promotes public confidence in the U.S. financial system by insuring deposits. It promotes safety and soundness by monitoring, identifying and addressing risks to the nation’s banks and savings associations.
