The AFCEA Bethesda Chapter will host this year’s “A Night for the Children” Charity Gala on March 22 at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C.

The event will benefit The Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and The House of Ruth.

The event, to be held 6 p.m. to midnight, also previews an April 5 event, “An Evening for Hope,” to benefit The Children’s Inn at NIH.The AFCEA Bethesda Chapter organizes a wide range of networking opportunities for the Washington, D.C. metro area, hosts philanthropic events and provides college scholarships.

For the past 15 years, AFCEA has supported The Children’s Inn, which serves as a residential home for seriously-ill children and their families. Additionally, The House of Ruth aids more than 1,000 children and families per year facing homelessness and emotional and physical abuse with housing and mentoring opportunities.

Stephanie C. Hill, president of Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS)–Civil, will serve as chair of the black-tie gala in March. The two charities depend on sponsorship and donations to continue running, she said.

She recently told WashingtonExec, “I am honored to serve as the 2014 chair for the event. In essence, this effort is so much more than a one-night event – what AFCEA Bethesda is really doing is bringing together the influential industry and government communities to make a positive impact on thousands of children locally and nationally.”

The event will include a silent auction, an invitation-only VIP reception, dinner, dancing and a casino.
