Today, several agencies are hosting an open house for STEM mentoring, in honor of National Mentoring Month and also in conjunction with the 57th Presidential Inauguration.
Held at the Federal Aviation Administration in Washington, D.C., there will be three ticketed sessions: 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Elizabeth Vandenburg, Co-Lead of the Mid-Atlantic, will be representing her national organization, National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP) at the event today.
Last April, she took Fairfax County students to a White House Women in STEM mentoring event featuring role models like Facebook Director of Engineering Jocelyn Goldfein.
“[Goldfein] told the girls, ‘don’t psych yourself out,’” Vandenburg said. “We need more role models carrying that message to girls.”
