Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) announced that it is a platinum sponsor for the 32nd National Veterans Wheelchair Games.
The games feature 17 different sports for veterans who use wheelchairs. The games promote rehabilitation through competitive sports including basketball, rugby, softball, and handcycling.
Steve Comber, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager, “SAIC is involved with Paralyzed Veterans of America to give back to the veterans who have sacrificed so much to secure the safety and freedom of our nation. These athletes live with their sacrifices each day – this event gives them an opportunity to enjoy friendly competition and demonstrate that anything is possible, if you set your mind to it.”
SAIC donated $50,000 to offset the cost of the event. SAIC regularly supports the Paralyzed Veterans of America and pledged nearly $100,000 over the past year to help support various Paralyzed Veteran Fundraising activities.
Bill Lawson, national president of Paralyzed Veterans of America said, “Without the support of sponsors like SAIC, putting on an event as large as the Wheelchair Games wouldn’t be possible. We thank SAIC for their continued support for the Games and their commitment to our veteran wheelchair athletes.”
The Wheelchair Games will be held in Richmond, Va. at the Greater Richmond Convention Center on June 25-30.
