Women In Technology (WIT) Leadership Awards Honor DC Professionals

Several leading female professionals were honored at the 13th Annual Women in Technology (WIT) Leadership Awards Banquet in Tyson’s Corner on May 17.

The women celebrated were chosen for excellence as mentors, unique vision, and talent in the technology industry.

“WIT recognizes these women for their excellent leadership, knowledge in the industry, and mentorship at local, national and global level,” said WIT President Kelly Harman.

Award recipients included:

Private (Large): Barbara Doornink, SAIC

Private (Small): Sharon D. Nelson, Esq, Sensei Enterprises, Inc.

Public Sector (Large): Susan Zeleniak, Verizon

Public Sector (Small): Christine Do, Soft Tech Consulting, Inc.

Global Impact: Dr. Homaira Akbari, SkyBitz

Entrepreneur: Kathy Albarado, Helios HR

Government: Janice M. Hamby, DOD, Office of the CIO

Education IT: Kelli Campbell, Discovery Education

Health IT: Sharon Gaheen, SAIC

Unsung Hero: Lisa Bethel, Booz Allen Hamilton

Rising Star: Erica Salinas, CSC

WIT Champion: Denise Hart, O2 Lab, Inc.

WIT President’s Award: Jane Maliszewski, ISKA; Piper Conrad, PKC Consulting

WIT has nearly 1,000 members in the Washington, DC area and strives to empower women to be architects of change in the technology industry.
