“We are extremely proud to showcase our local youth and always encourage them to share their stories of academic, personal, professional and financial success, turning their dreams into obtainable, life changing realities,” said Executive Director of NFTE D.C. Julie Kantor.

Khaled Khalifa, a student at Washington-Lee High School, received the 2012 Global Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.

Students also sold products at the NFTE Student Showcase, where proceeds benefit providing low-income communities with entrepreneurship skills.

Maureen Naughton of Wakefield High School won the 2012 Enterprising Educator of the Year and Mena Lofland of Suitland High School was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Gala includes presentations for six Locally Grown Honorees that build companies in the Washington region and make significant contributions to their individual communities.

NFTE provides entrepreneurship education and has programs relevant to the real world in 21 states.
