LiveTV, a subsidiary of JetBlue Airways, has received Supplemental Type Certification for the first commercial aircraft to install Iridium OpenPort-Aero high-speed communications platform. Iridium OpenPort-Aero delivers the only satellite communications service with fully global coverage for airlines, providing high-speed data and voice connectivity to aircraft around the world.
Voice and data services supported by Iridium OpenPort-Aero include email, text messaging, internet surfing, VPN, GSM voice and data, as wells as crew voice and data, including electronic flight bags (EFB), ecommerce and credit card validations. The terminal operates world wide and can be customized to accommodate installation in nearly all aircraft.
