Recently, TASC Inc. named retired U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. David Cotton as the VP of Cyber. In this role, Cotton will lead the development of TASC’s cyber capabilities for all customers as well as drive cyber-related business growth across the company.

Senior VP of TASC’s Strategic Capabilities and Technology Group Pamela Drew said, “With new and growing cyber threats at every turn, it is essential to deliver sophisticated cyber support across all our service offerings. David has deep expertise in information assurance for national defense systems and will play an important role in ensuring all our federal customers gain access to the right solutions for their complex cyber challenges.”

Before TASC, Cotton served in the Air Force for more than 29 years. During his tenure, he transformed a 44,000-person telecommunications and information technology workforce into a cyber workforce. Immediately after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Cotton was responsible for the enhancement of the operations center used for the command and control of multinational air forces conducting operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. As director of communications for the European Command, Cotton directed the planning and execution of two U.S. and NATO interoperability demonstration exercises for cyber that involved participants from 40 nations.

Cotton earned a B.S. in computer science at Iowa State University, M.A. in computer data and personnel management at Webster University and M.A. in strategic studies at the U.S. Air Force Air War College.
