ICF International announced today that Chuck M. Akin Jr. is the company’s new enterprise/systems architect. A connoisseur in the health informatics, federal enterprise architecture and information technology field, Akin has almost 20 years of experience in informatics and public health.

“Health data aggregation and the opportunity for scientists and public health professionals to perform real-time analysis and dissemination of their findings are ever-increasing challenges that must be supported by software application tools and infrastructure innovations,” said Mary Whitley, senior vice president for ICF International. “Chuck’s vast experience and passion for designing these solutions will enable ICF to deliver services that expertly support our clients’ health IT strategies.”

Akin is charge of ensuring that ICF stakeholders have the information they need for vital clinical, public health and policy decisions. He will be supporting government clients with an array of enterprise- wide and domain-specific IT solutions. Prior to ICF, Akin served in different senior technical and business roles for a large IT company. His focus was on developing and implementing service-oriented IT architecture, systems integration and business process management. He was also the sole proprietor of another IT company which served local and national clients.

“Chuck’s experience will contribute to ICF’s growing information technology capabilities in Atlanta, where he will work with our staff of more than 250 professionals supporting the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention,” said David Cotton, senior vice president for ICF International. “Chuck adds a level of understanding and architectural vision that will strengthen ICF’s robust suite of health informatics capabilities.”

ICF is a leading provider of delivering professional services and technology solutions in the energy, environment, transportation, health, education, social programs, homeland security and defense markets.
