The Pentagon Federal Credit Union Foundation honored James Peake Friday evening as a recipient of the PenFed Foundation’s “American Hero Award.”
Peake, who was presented the award during the organization’s “Night of Heroes Gala,” is senior vice president and a board member of CGI Group Inc., an IT and business process service provider specializing in healthcare.
Peake, a graduate of West Point, served as a surgeon for many years, ultimately becoming the US Army’s surgeon general. He also served in the Department of Veterans Affairs, working on healthcare policy.
“Jim is a special American and one of our nation’s finest public servants,” said Kate Kohler, PenFed’s chief operating officer. “He represents the unique personification of the continuum of care, from serving in Vietnam with valor as a soldier, to serving in the military as a surgeon and in government as an advocate for veterans.”
“We congratulate Jim on this well-deserved honor,” added Donna Morea, CGI’s president for the US, Europe, and Asia. “At CGI, our clients and members now benefit from his commitment to service, extraordinary insight and leadership. He sets an inspiring example for us all.”
