Monster.com today announced it is co-chairing the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) Veterans Employment Initiative and powering its online community and job board.
“This NVTC initiative aligns with our mission perfectly. At Monster, what we do is connect people with job opportunities – it’s in our DNA. Part of our deep and rich legacy working with the military and veterans comes from our subsidiary, Military.com,” said Steve Cooker, executive vice president of Global Government Solutions for Monster Worldwide, who serves as a co-chair of the NVTC Veterans Employment Initiative. “We also develop innovative solutions that help put veterans back to work – the military skills translator is a perfect example. Plus, we live here. We’re part of the Northern Virginia business community and we saw this NVTC initiative bringing all of those elements together right in our back yard.”
The company developed the online career site and the tools within it that veterans and employers will be using. Those tools include the online community itself, and, for veterans, a Military Skills Translator, resume builder, career advice and a job search function.
For employers, the Power Resume Search is made available to NVTC members along with easy job posting capabilities and free access to the veteran resume database with more than 800,000 veteran resumes.
