AMERICAN SYSTEMS has won an $83 million prime task order from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to provide network convergence under the U.S. General Services Administration’s Connections II contract. American Systems is a government IT services provider and one of the top 100 employee-owned companies in the U.S, and the single-award, firm-fixed-price task order has a one-year base period of performance with four one-year options.

“American Systems understands the need for integrated communications systems in the federal workplace to help IRS achieve their mission,” said AMERICAN SYSTEMS president and chief executive officer, William C. Hoover. “AMERICAN SYSTEMS has extensive knowledge and experience designing, implementing and supporting unified communications solutions, and we look forward to helping the IRS achieve greater productivity.”

Under the task order, American Systems will provide program management, engineering, logistics, purchasing, testing, implementation, and support for the converged network operating the IRS’ enterprise-wide unified communications solution. Its network convergence solution helps integrate voice, voicemail and other media including e-mail, SMS, fax, video messaging, and presence technologies, into a single user interface to help support collaborative applications and improve the IRS’ connectivity and productivity.
