In a $6 million engineering research and development task order, Alion Science and Technology, a global engineering, R&D, IT and operational solutions company, will help support the Army’s Project Manager Soldier Weapons (PM SW) program in its mandate to develop, produce, and procure current and next-generation weapons systems and technologies to give soldiers a military advantage.
“This task order allows us to develop and rapidly deliver accelerated solutions for weapons systems, including integrated ammunition and associated target acquisition and fire-control products,” said Senior Vice President and Manager of Alion’s Technology Solutions Group Chris Amos. “This mission-critical work will support warfighter needs, giving our troops an edge in the battlespace.”
The task order, awarded through the Weapons Systems Technology Information Analysis Center (WSTIAC), has a period of performance through December 2014. WSTIAC, is operated by Alion, and is one of nine Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) Information Analysis Centers (IACs).
In supporting, Alion will help PM SW, a division within the Army’s Program Executive Office Soldier, by conducting research and development in studies and analyses of capabilities, effectiveness, project coordination, and guidance for individual and crew-served weapons.
