Jacobs Engineering Group last week announced it closed its acquisition of Verizon’s Federal Network Systems (FNS), a systems integration and communication, IT and data security solutions firm based in Ashburn, Va.

Jacobs is a public international engineering, architecture and construction firm employing roughly 60,000 and drawing around $10 billion in revenue. Officials did not disclose terms of the deal.

The move expands Jacobs presence to adjacent markets, said Jacobs Group Vice President Robert Norfleet.

“We are very pleased that FNS is now a part of Jacobs. We expect this acquisition to significantly enhance our capability in the growing Intelligence Community industry by augmenting our current service offerings in mission critical infrastructure design and commissioning; secure facility maintenance and operations; telecommunications and information technology solutions; and mission operations,” Norfleet said.
