More than 10,000 participants are gearing up for the Greater Washington Heart Walk on Nov. 4 at the National Mall.

The walk is the primary fundraiser for the American Heart Association. Last year’s event raised $2.2 million.

“The mission of the AHA is to help kids, families and communities live heart-healthy lives,” said participant Mac Curtis, president and CEO of Vencore. “About 610,000 people die of heart disease in the United States every year – that’s one in every four deaths. The Heart Walk is such a wonderful opportunity to pull together and have a meaningful, nationwide impact by raising money for an organization that supports such a worthy cause.”

Participants have the option to participate in a 1- or 3-mile walk, which will raise money for research, education and training.

There will also be kids activities and a food tent. Strollers and leashed dogs are allowed. To register or learn more, click here.
