It’s never been easier to find images from space. InfoZen, an IT modernization and transformation company, has built an innovative media search solution for the NASA Image and Video Library allowing users to search, discover and download more than 140,000 images, videos and audio files from across the agency’s many missions.
The images.nasa.gov website consolidates imagery previously spread across more than 60 collections into one searchable location through use of keywords and metadata searches. The site works on cloud native “infrastructure-as-a-code” technology, and enables users to download of full resolution images and videos.
“We are extremely pleased to be able to deliver this innovative elastic and cost-effective solution for NASA and its worldwide community, by using on-demand cloud capabilities,” said Raj Ananthanpillai, InfoZen’s chairman, CEO and president.
To extend usability and flexibility, the NASA Image and Video Library’s Application Programming Interface (API) allows automation of imagery uploads for NASA, and gives members of the public the ability to embed content in their own sites and applications.
An essential component of NASA’s I3P modernization campaign, the Web Enterprise Service Technology (WESTPrime) contract, is one of five agency-wide IT service contracts under NASA’s Enterprise Services.
