Fairfax, Va.-based Salient Federal Solutions Inc. (Salient) announced Sept. 17 that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has awarded the Information Technology Research, Application and Web Development Support Services contract to the company.

“This contract is a great opportunity for Salient to contribute to the vital mission of NIH,” Salient Federal CEO Brad Antle said in a statement. “Our committed experience deploying our engineering talents to a wide range of IT surge requirements will be of benefit to NIH as they continue their life saving work.”

The blanket purchase agreement (BPA), worth an estimated $30 million, will be effective for the next five years. The company is one of 20 awardees allowed to compete for task orders under the contract.

Specifically, Salient will deliver specialized Information Technology services in eight functional areas of NIH. Among these, the company will provide helpdesk operations, network and security infrastructure, web and application development, and research support services to the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA), Consolidated Office Acquisition Center (COAC) and Customer Institutes and Centers (CIC).

NIH, a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the U.S.’s medical research agency.
