SAIC has won a $50.6 million follow-on task order from the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, Rhode Island, to continue designing, modernizing and sustaining the Navy’s torpedo defense systems.
The award builds on two decades of SAIC’s work with the Navy on its most advanced torpedo defense systems. Under the order, SAIC will use digital engineering to streamline how the systems are designed, prototyped and built, integrating modeling, simulation and stimulation for stronger system analysis, data-driven insights and cybersecurity. The goal is to improve vessel survivability and keep the systems effective against evolving maritime threats.
SAIC will support NUWC systems including the AN/SLQ-25 Torpedo Countermeasures Transmitting Set, known as Nixie; Acoustic Device Countermeasures; the MK 58 Compact Rapid Attack Weapon; the EX 2 Torpedo Warning System; and the Submarine Launched Unmanned Aerial System, along with emergent technology and intelligence projects for the Navy and Foreign Military Sales.
The order supports several NUWC Code 85 program offices, including the Undersea Warfare Systems Program Office, the International Fleet Support Program Office, the Office of Naval Research and the Office of Naval Intelligence.
Barbara Supplee, SAIC executive vice president of the Army Navy Business Group, said the company’s partnership with the Navy and NUWC is built on trust, technical excellence and commitment to the mission.
“This award reflects the Navy’s confidence in our team’s continued ability to deliver the modern torpedo defense systems needed to protect our fleet and outpace emerging threats,” she added. “We are proud to continue supporting NUWC Code 85 with the engineering rigor, innovation, and agility required to ensure our warfighters remain safe, informed, and ready.”
