AT&T has been selected to help NASA improve communications across its Deep Space Network.

AT&T will provide a high-speed VPN to connect Deep Space Network’s giant radio antennas around the world. The AT&T VPN lets NASA protect and transmit data three times faster than before.

“Our technology helps NASA explore the furthest reaches of the known universe,” AT&T Vice President Civilian for AT&T Government Solutions Mike Leff said. “This is the latest technology enhancement we have brought to NASA in our more than 20 year relationship.”

Deep Space Network is the largest and most sensitive scientific telecommunications system in the world. NASA’s Deep Space Network supports communications for interplanetary spacecraft missions. It also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve understanding of the solar system and larger universe.
