The U.S. Air Force has awarded Amentum a $245 million contract for a 5-year task order that supports the Defense Technical Information Center’s Microelectronics Facilities and Laboratories Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation efforts at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane’s Strategic Microelectronics Division and the Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs.

This contract aims to improve U.S. defense capabilities by providing advanced services, independent data-driven solutions and positioning GXM as a leader in reliable, radiation-hardened microelectronics, Amentum said.

“Amentum will leverage our digital engineering ecosystem and model-based system engineering expertise to enhance capabilities for strategic radiation hardened microelectronics.” said Jill Bruning, president of Amentum’s Engineering, Science, and Technology Group.

Amentum will apply its Integrated Digital Engineering Approach under this task order. The company will conduct R&D, technology maturation, analysis, testing and systems engineering. The goal is to improve microelectronics facilities and laboratories, including updating and enhancing T&E facilities related to the Navy’s Fleet Ballistic Missile system, Strategic Weapons System and Defense Department strategic weapons platforms that use advanced and critical microelectronics technologies.

Amentum will also enhance the Navy’s prototyping and test capabilities and provide expertise in radiation-hardened and survivability technologies.
